01The project
This is a Touristech project by JCI Beroea, published under the authority of the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums and the Ministry of Tourism. It is the second heritage property in the programme, after the Citadel of Aleppo.
The purpose is narrow and practical. A visitor deciding whether to give a day to Qalaat Semaan cannot currently find out what the journey involves, and a visitor standing in the ruin cannot find out what they are looking at. This site is built to answer those two questions in Arabic and in English, and not much else.
02How it is built
Static pages, no tracking, no accounts. Every page exists in both languages because both are generated from the same source — there is no code path that could produce an Arabic page without its English twin, or the reverse.
Anything marked in a tinted, dashed style is a placeholder: a value we do not yet have. We publish the empty field rather than a plausible guess, because on a site carrying a ministry's name an invented opening time that looks like a fact is worse than no opening time at all.
03Sources
This first pass is written from secondary sources: the English-language encyclopaedia article on the Church of Saint Simeon Stylites, and the Syrian Treasures heritage portal. A full pass against DGAM records, the UNESCO nomination file for the Ancient Villages of Northern Syria, Archnet and the Syrian Heritage Archive is outstanding.
Where sources disagree, we say so rather than picking the more convenient number. The open items are listed below.

Wikipedia gives 473; syrian-treasures gives 476. Both agree the main church was complete by about 490.
